Americas women in the cities and on the farms in war factories and in their homes are determined to make Women At War Week the greatest War Bond selling effort since Pearl Harbor. Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt sounded the keynote for the Treasury Departments Women At War Week, Nov. 22 to 28, with an appeal to women to save on "little things to provide money for War Bonds. "We women want to work hard, we want to be a part of this strenuous .period because unless we are, we will not be able to face the men when they . return and claim our share of the future responsibility for building a peaceful world, the First Lady declared. The overall direction of Women At War Week rests with the Womens Section of the War Savings Staff under the leadership of LAKETOWN NEWS Locals Record War Bond Sales Is Goal Of Women At War Week Nov. 22 Merrill Johnson called his parents from San Pedro, Calif., Saturday morning. He had been to Hawaii. Mrs. Morton Kearl pf Laketown spent Tuesday of last week with her sister, Mrs. L. B. Johnson and Mrs. .A. W. Thomock, and attended the funeral of Mrs. Lois Kennedy. DelMarr Johnson arrived home from Los Angeles last Friday night. Ralph Calvert has, returned from Hawaii, where he has been in service for over a year. Mr. and Mrs. V. B. Jackson and Mrs. Albert Smith were Evanston visitors Saturday. LaRayne Conley and Dorothy Argyla of Ogden spent the week end visiting in Randolph. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McKinnon and Mrs.J Dona Groll were Evanston visitors Saturday. Mr; and Mrs.'Wm. Kennedy left for a two weeks visit to southern Utah. Goldie Corless has been in Salt Lake this week attending to business matters. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Richey received word that a son was born Wednesday, Nov. 11th to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clark at the Dee hospital in Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Smith were Salt Lake visitors Monday and Tuesday. Mra. Lcta Kennedy and daughter, Helen, were Ogden and Salt Lake visitors this week. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Pead and family are visiting relatives and friends this week. Mrs. Gleand Bateman . of Tacoma, Wash., came Wednesday for a indefinite stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Rex. Mr,,.Bateman has joined the U. S. Navy. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Rex and Mrs. Albert Smith were Evanston visitors Wednesday evening. Enjoying a birthday supper for Mrs. Leland Rex. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Groll and family of Kemmerer, were Armistice day visitors. Hyrum Smith has enlisted in the Air Corp. He expects to leave for Stock-toCalifornia, Sunday. Garth Nicholls, son of Mrs. Mary Ellen Nicholls, who enlisted with the Army Aviation Corp, will leave Sunday for Sacramento, Calif. Mrs. Irel I.onghurst and children - f Ephraim, Utah, are visiting Randolph relatives this week. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Findlay and children of Kemmerer, Wyo., were last week end visitors with Randolph relatives and friends. Jane Jones who has been in Evanston for several weeks returned to Randolph Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Osborn left Thursday for Ogden where Mr. Osborn to find employment. Mrs. Osborn will spend a week in Ogden. "The average American woman began to rise to new heights on Sunday, Dec. 7, 1941, Mrs. Morgenthau said. "This winter the average American woman will be spending less in order to save more to invest in War Bonds and Stamps. She will not, please God, ever have to fire a gun or fly a bomber. But she will, please God, always do everything she can to help buy anything and'the best of everything that fires or flies or floats in this terrible war. n, .
