Only 315 cases of communicable diseases were reported which is the smallest number on record for the present year. Six cases of tularemia were reported: One from Carbon county, one from Duchesne county, two from Rich county and two from Uintah county. Both of the cases reported from Rich county resulted fatally. As reported by the attending phys- Demonstrating a determination to hold down forest and range fire losses during the season ahead to a minimum and a desire for all out public cooperation in prevention efforts, Forest Service officials and deputy fire wardens throughout the state tias called attention to closed season restrictions and the increased danger ahead. The recently issued proclamation by Newell B. Cook, Utahs chief fire warden, which defines the closed season for the state and the requirements for obtaining fire permits reads as follows: WHEREAS, it has become advisable to close certain districts within the state of Utah from the hazards of fire. NOW TEREFORE, I Nevell B. Cook, Chief Fire Warden of the State of Utah, by virtue of the authority vested, in me by Chapter 24, Daws of Utah, 1937, do hereby proclaim and declare that all fire districts within the State of Utah, as established by the Chief Fire Warden with the approval of the Boaid of Fire Control of the State of Utah and as heretofore designated and published as fire districts, are hereby declared closed during a period beginning May 21, 1941 and ending October 31, 1941.
