| Show UNITED STATES SELECTIVE SERVICE uly registration selective service local boards of utah are expected on july 1 to con duct the second registration of young en eligible for military training acting state director H A rich announces estimates by the bureau of the census in washington D C indi abc nate atc that there will be about men registered in utah on july 1 major rich asserted the majority of young men affected he said will be registered at the local board headquarters of the he community in which they live in the event however that ocil local noard offices are so situated that it would be difficult for the registration to be conducted there without hardship to the registrants other public buildings may be used this v will ill be particularly true in the more populous counties where it is anticipated that registrations may be heavy also the director said that in nore populous board areas local boards may be authorized to enlist 1 upside I aid for the actual registration major rich expressly called attention to the fact that when the first registration was conducted last october october 16 many young men of utah vere temporarily outside of the fhate in schools on missions in temporary employment and oth otherwise erwis in registering many of them failed to give their home address being n the state of utah the result was that many of these young men found their cases permanently as isnec to the address given in foreign states and thereafter attempted 0 ro o have their cases transferred to utah boards if a utah man temporarily pora rily absent absen t from the state ex to be regarded as a utah reg trant he must at the tr time ie of rec rea give his utah address and his case will then be handled b by t alie appropriate b oard board in utah he cavi can then lien communicate with his utah board and give them his temporary address young men who are residing in countries will not register until after their return to the united or its dominions much confusion and disappointment will be avoided if belati relatives vs and nd friends of men temporarily out 0 ol 01 the state will see that they ar are notified of the fact that they should give their home address in the state stata oi 01 utah if they expect their cases to re oe considered and handled by utah beards when the first reg registration was conducted last october 16 many organizations outside the selective service system gave us their whole hearted assistance for which we are and will be everlastingly grateful it is not as yet determined the extent to which assistance of these group may be requested in conducting this registration in the more populous clareas areas however in lural districts kind and in smaller boards it is believed that our own local boards will be able to conduct the tha second ron ilon by themselves on july 1 as or dei deded ld b by Y the president registrations will be conducted between the hours of a in and ancl p m acting state Direct L ur jr rich pointed out |
