Another policeman, Jean Lefevre, leaped in, rescued Jeannin, captured the suspect and dragged both to shore while a crowd applauded from the bank. Bisbee, Ariz. City Magistrate Barney Norton handed down a judicial decree that calves are not legal tender for paymeht of a fine although Bisbee is in the heart of the cattle country. A Mexican, charged with being intoxicated, was given a sentence of $10 or 10 days. A few hours later, the prisoners son arrived in the court room with a calf which he offered for his fathers freedom. Ten dollars or 10 days means what it says, said the judge, the prodigal prisoner will return to the fatted calf in nine days. HOME America. Mr. Wood uses two immense easels, ' the largest of their kind in the world, and more than a score of colors to produce his pictures. These are further enhanced by elaborate electrical effects controlled by his own switchboard. The resulting effect is nothing short of miraculous. Mr. Wood is master- of stunt effects and springs many novel surprises on cartoon his audiences. Ilis material is original and inspiring. One of the most interesting features of his program is his exhibition of visualization and concentration writing backwards and up ride down, and reading quotations on an altogether different subject. Wood nads as he ske tches, things of humor, pathos and romance. For the children he draws cartoon sketches of boys in comic postures. And these are taken from people in his audiences, lie writes names on his easels and transforms tlnm into pictures with startling rapidity. Nor does Mr. Wood neglect the s. thetic side of his program. The feature of his program sketches in brilliant color, made still more beautiful by spectacular lighting effects, include a such selection the FT''mation of Sam McGee, Pres d nts Faces.
