| Show new farm plan gives time for 1937 planting the anjou announcement of the 1937 agricultural conservation program last week more than three months earlier than in will give farmers ample opportunity to study the plan and to make their definite programs tor for this year director william peterson in charge of the program in utah says the program for 1037 1937 for the western region has been developed to give more emphasis to soil boulding practices which conserve soil fertility and prevent erosion george K E farrell director of the western region say says the diversion payment will be 6 per acre adjusted to productivity for each acre diverted in addition 3 for each acre diverted for payment as adymt i tol td t d for productivity will be added to the hie soil building allowance for the farm and will be paid to farmers upon performance of soll soil building practices for most farms the general soil building will be determined by multiplying the normal soll soil conser ing acreage plus the acres diverted by 1 I 1 Ilo however wever on farms where most of the land is in soil conserving crops the soil allowance will be computed by multiplying plying the total number of acres in cropland by SO 80 cents with this rate adjusted to the productivity of the land in either case additions may be made to the allowance for land in truck crops or or orchards in pastures and in range land other steps in the 1037 conservation program as outlined by director peterson are as follows 1 soil building bullying practices which have been tono tentatively actively developed jn in washington at a conference attended by W W owens assistant director ind and J W gillman of orem member of the state kalk AAA committee will be 10 put in final form and announced 2 community meetings will lie held in january for the purpose of electing community committeemen and completing tile the county committees and explaining the general outlines of the 1937 program 3 farmers will be given opportunity to meet individually with their local al committeemen n or county agent and to find out just how the 1937 1037 program applies to their farms at this time e eveia deiy suimei vill 1111 lave au all to sig sign agn a work sheet every farmer should thus have a chance to know before planting time how much the 1037 program can mean to him special features of the program in claudins ciudin clu dins the range program the classification fi cation of land use and other problems are being worked out ont as rapidly ng ns possible and will be announced as soon as they are ready drector director peterson says |
