Manpower Vehicle The jinriksha comes from a Japanese word meaning manpower In our day and age he hJs visited a boy, a boy of fourteen. This boy was Joseph Smith. His mind was disturbed with all the claims of the different denominations, for how could they all be true when they claimed different things? He was unable to decide which church he should join so he read hrs biible but he didnt find much satisfaction in this as the different sects understood the passages of scripture so different. But as he was reading one day he run across a passage from the Epistle of James that ran like this: If any of you lack wisd!om let him ask of God, who givefh to all men liberally and uipbradeth not and it shall be given. This came to him with great force filling his being with great feeling for who could need wisdom from God more than he? He reflected cn this for sometime. He thought it over and over, then he decided to take the advice, so he went to the woods It was a beautiful day in the spring of 1820. Looking all around and finding himself all alone he started to pray, but his prayer was only begun, when he was seized with some power that eritirey overdome him and his tongue was bound so he couldnt speak thick darkness gathered around him and it seemed he was doomed to destruction. Exerting all his powers he called oh God to deliver him from the power of this ernaimy and aa he was ready to give up in despair, he saw a pillar of light exactly above his head. It was above the brightness of the sun then this light descended and be felt himself delivered from the enemy that bad bound him. Then he saw two personages whose brightness and glory defied ail description, standing over him in the air. One of them apoke calling him by name saying: TMs is my beloved son, hear Mm. Then Joseph recalled what he had been praying for and asked the Lora which af the churches he should join. He was answered that none of them were right and to join none, saying all these creeds are near to me with their lips but their hearts are for from me. They teach for doctrine the commandment of men having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof. Again he forbade Joseph to join any of them. Many more things did He say, then the light left and Jbseph found his strength exausted. After laying on his back for some time he arose and went home. Three years later, while calling on God, asking forgiveness for his weaknesses and imperfections, the Angel Moroni was sent.
