Friday February 14, 1936 Commissioners NARRATIVE REPORT NOTICE TO WATER USERS South Rich High Thousands of rural families are now end u ring praverty, largely because of failure to use laud and livestock to the best advantage. In many of our sections throughout the state we find farmers in distress and very much in need of assistance. These farmers, capable of doing. The Rural may say are down and out; they are unable to get work or capital enough, that will enable them to make their farm bring in the returns, which it is capable of doing. The Rural Resettlement program is endeavoring to work out a farm plan for these people and make them once again. In one case, the Farm Supervisor visited a Mr. O. This Mr. C. and his wife has both been active workers in their community up until the depres sion and. drouth. They have been unable to get work and because of drouth conditions, of the paslt, are unable to restock their farm. This family is now living ten miles from the nearest community : their living conditions are very meager. Our coming year is very bright and promising. These people do not have the means, whereby they can provide and prepare themselves to take ad vantage of their present opportunity. The Rural Resettlement has come to their, rescue and a grant has been is tued to them' to take care of their now existing needs. Mr. O. has signed a work agreement for the total amount of this grant. During the next month a farm plan will be worked out with Mr. O. According to all indications, he will he able to borrow funds from the Rural Resettlement to restock his farm and become self supporting. CLARENCE A. ANDEIRSON.
