Show republicans republican MEET IN COUNTY convention select men lien for county offices richfield delegation gets drubbing martin jensen heads the ticket the republican convention held a at t elsinore last saturday de developed eloped several surprises and not dot least among deliN delivered cred to those mas v as tho the whipping the richfield delegation this dele gation had practically the control of the co convention mention by making certain concessions ces to the other precincts the delegation delet tion did not dot go into caucus and decide what they would work ork for but cich member was a liw law unto himself ind and as a result the delegation got what it wont want and were defeated for what it did v ant in the first biale a promise was mad by some of the richfield delegation to delner deli ir sixteen votes to redmond for the representative and in return for this was to richfield for her candidates for the other offices the first billot ballot disclosed that the richfield delegation could not be controlled and then it was every delegation in the county against richfield Sich field and only y by the merest chance did the delegation get one candidate that of treasurer through agh this was the of cf a compromise screed upon the toon noon recess had mr poulsen continued in the race irace for the treasurer he would undoubtedly undoubted lv have landed the nomination it was learned after afterwards wands that se era of the precincts had adopted a slogan bilogan anything to down Erch berchfield field redmond was the ibe most moat effectively organized delegation TO in the convention and they had adopted a unit rule so that a majority of the delegation decided the vote and every tone te there was a vote called the Re timond chairman delivered his eight votes for their choice in th this th tha Redmond ites were ably second ed by the salina delegation so that they had bad practically control of the comen tion As a result of the defeat of the richfield delegation ly by the rest of the county there is a strong feeling of resentment against the work of the convention among these delegates there was some talk that the defeat of the richfield delegation was accomplished complis hed by the richfield alternates aho av wire wi re opposed to the dele gate owing to the victory which they accomplished in the primary on thursday night but this is hardly the condition and richfield delegates have themselves to blame for their crushing defeat they had a candidate for nearly every office and they should hae known that the other delegations would not stand for hogging the offices all the other delegations are highly satisfied with the ticket and elsmore elsinore was the most jovial bunch in the convention as they had no favors to ask nor old scores to settle I 1 the tha elsmore elsinore and joseph bands combined and furnished the convention with music which was appreciated by the delegates there was much skirmishing among the men who were seeking offices and knots and groups of delegates were scattered freely overawe streets and it was nearly noon when there were enough members gathered in the opera house to begin the work of the eon con Nent antion en tion lon the county chairman and secretary were not present to open the convention so that the duty devolved upon the precinct chairman of elsinore FIRST SESSION ir t r the
