| Show G H ta N G EXTENSION committee decide on tungsten baill lamps P s main center and sheets leading to places of or amusement m ent to be favored faired the special committee appointed by the city council to consider on idar the extension of the lighting system met last friday night and considered the matter the n of the local light company ind and H N hayes II 11 ayes as tle the legal legai representative ot of that company appeared before alle committee and presented a plan foi fai lighting main alain and center streets there was as considerable skirmishing done by the light companas comp anys man to get all tl e advantage possible from the city and there were vere a afew few passages between him and the mayor as to the condition of the light company in the matter of its rates the committee reached a decision as to the principal points of the light extension it is proposed to light main alain street throughout with incandescent lamps and center street from the depot to a point two blocks blacks west of main then the lines will be extended so as to furnish lights to all places of worship and amusement the committee found it impossible to put in an elaborate system of lighting at the figure agreed upon by the council which was per year the system as prop proposed oed and agreed on will cost and this is as much as the treasury will stand another point that the light company asks is that the city will ai I 1 pu put up the first 3 ears light bill in advance nee 1 a as s the cost of installing in talling the system is more than the local company can stand at ti present resent ine members men liers of the committee are not in favor fanor of advancing an that amount of mon the lamps proposed for the system are the tungsten variety which which is the latest invention in incandescent lighting I 1 the advantage of this lamp lies 1 mostly on the side of the light com I 1 pany as it requires less energy per I 1 than the ordinary lamp the lamps are rated at this much of an extension will ill be a blessing to t e c rients on the side aide streets as the present ire lamps on main alain street aie mot blinding when approaching main alain street floan either the east cast or west |
