| Show conference IS WELL ATTENDED interesting programs are rendered during two days sessions at tabernacle the se ler stake quarterly conference convened in the stake tabernacle richfield march ath and ath 1908 president W H presiding elders francis al lyman and george albert smith were in attendance atten darce representing the general church authorities there vas aas v as a good attendance of the high council bishops and other stake authorities at the opening session president gave a brief report of the condition of the stake showing some im over the same period last laet year he referred to the temperance movement inaugurated by the high priests quorum of the stake and said he hoped it would have the aid and assistance f all the quorums of the priesthood brief reports were made by the bishops of annabella aurora brooklyn and burrville Burr ville showing improved conditions in each of these wards elder francis at lyman spoke of the necessity of the people being educated in the pa ment of their fast offerings in ordez cordei that the worthy poor might be supported ile he expressed himself as being very much pleased with the temperance movement and hoped the iame bame would grow until all the people of this stake were nere identified with it in the afternoon meeting the following owing wards were reported by their bishops joseph redmond monroe north each showing improved conditions the high priests quorum was aas reported by president morten jensen the primary association by superintendent althea hyldahl and the religion classes clashes by elder junius F ogden brief reports were also given of the quorum of SeN seventies se enties and the first elders quorum by the presidents of these quorums qu elder george albert smith spoke of the educational benefits derived from a membership in the auxiliary organizations advising barents to do all in their po power cr to support these organizations at 4 p m a special priesthood meeting was held at which the financial and statistical reports of the stake were ere discussed and some instruction given thereon by the visiting brell brethren iren at 10 a m on sunday the sunday schools of the richfield wards convened in the tabernacle after the preliminary exercises stake superintendent jacob at 61 lauritzen Laun gave a report of the sunday schools of the stake after which instructive remarks were made lade by elders lyman and sm smith ith at 2 p m conference becom reconvened ened in the tabernacle and after the opening exercises the general and stake authorities were presented by stake clerk geo at jones the voting being in the affirmative elder george albert bergsmith smith compliments d the people of seier stake on the improved conditions and said he hoped the good work would go on until the grounds surrounding the tabernacle are beautified with lawns and shrubs he referred to a observance of the word of wisdom as being the duty of the latter day saints elder francis at lyman endorsed the remarks of elder smith and asked the quorums of the priesthood to aid and assist the high priests in the temperance movement and advised all to refrain from patronizing the saloon and in this way begin the prohibition movement the singing during the entire conference was furnished by the tabernacle choir under the direction of elder geo al jones and on sunday afternoon the choir vas nas assisted by the anona orchestra all the music of this session being with orchestral accompaniment compani ment the closing selection was hallelujah from handels messiah Meb siah |
