| Show proclamation BY THE PRESIDENT urges each person to give complete information to the census enumerators next month the following follow mi proclamation as to the census of 1910 has been i sued by president taft whereas by bv the A act t of coneless Con eress ress dnn Po roved july jul 2 1309 1909 the thirteenth decennial census of the united states is to be taken lle vinning on the fifteenth dav of april nineteen hundred and ten and whereas a correct enumeration of the united states for the purpose of determining the representation of the several states in ithe the house hoube of and whereas it is of the utmost im hortance nor tance to the interests interest ot of all the people of the united stites that this census be a complete molete co and accurate report af of the population and resources 0 of f the country now therefore 1 I william howard taft president of the united states of america do hereby declare de clire a and nd make known that under the act aforesaid it is the duty of every nerson derbon to answer all questions on the census schedules applying to him edthe family to which hr he belongs belon Ls and ind to the farm occupied by him or his and that any adult refusing to do 10 is subjected to the iole gurnoe of the census is to ecail general statistical tion regarding re rez ardine arding the population and resource of the count country rv and relie arc q re required reau reou ired ird from individuals only in order to permit the compilation of such general statistics stati AlL the census has nothing no to do aith ith taxation with arav or jury service with the compulsion of school attendance with the regulation of immigration or with the enforcement of any national state ur or local law or ordinance nor can any derson be harmed in any way by furnishing the information required reau reou ired chere need be no fears that any disclosure will be made re vardina dint any individual person or his affairs fur fr the due protection of the rights and interests of the ner sons furnishing fur furni information every employee of the census bureau is prohibited under heavy penalty uena ltv from disc lobina any information which may thus come to his knowledge I 1 therefore earnestly urge uree buon all persons to answer promptly eom com and accurately accurate lv all inquiries addres addressed qed to them by bv the enumerators or other employees emolo of the census bureau and thereby to contribute their share towards making this areat and necessary public undertaking a success in witness whereof I 1 have liere here unto set mv hand and cawed caused the seal of i the united stites vites to be affixed done at the city of washington this fifteenth day dav of march A D one thou thousand and nine hundred and ten and of the independence of the united states of america the one hundred and thirll fourth WM H tart TAFT by bv the president P C knox kno of state |
