Show crop insurance proves beneficial to utah farmers crop insurance policies issued on wheat harvested in 1939 expired on october 1 according to marvin M hatch member of the U utah t a h agricultural conservation committee while results on last years program have not been completely analyzed enough has been learned to give a f fair air picture of I 1 its ts success here in utah all risk wheat crop insurance was presented to farmers for the f first time last year even in this introductory year farmers in the state took advantage of the protection and insured crops on acres in each case the farmer carried coverage on 75 per cent of the average yield of 1 his farm during the 9 year period 1927 1935 inclusive on this basis bushels of wheat were assured these farmers for sale this fall regardless of what happened to their crop from natural hazards premiums totaling bushels were paid in to cover this crop and before the indemnities are all paid more than buchels will be paid back to the farmers using these figures mr air hatch pointed out that insurance really paid utah farmers at least bushels more will be paid out to the farmers in andem cities than they paid in through their premiums so successful was the program that farm operators throughout the state are apparently going to 0 greatly exceed last years sign up this year predicted mr hatch reports arent completed yet but box elder county sends word that approximately operators called at the county office and signed applications for protection on their wheat crop |
