Show school B u s drivers organize unite to promote safety in transporting school students in line with a state program and as a unit of a state organization the sevier school bus safety operators association was organized by school bus drivers of the sevier district at a meeting held here thursday in the district offices its primary purpose is to promote safety in transportation of students to and from school ben morrill of the richfield area was elected president emery nielson of monroe area vice president and effie higgins stenographer at the school offices was chosen secretary registration and maintenance fees for the organization were set organization to promote safety is being taken throughout the state prompted by the tragic accident which occurred in the jordon district in december although the bus driver was absolved of blame certain safety devices were not adequate strict adherence to regulations for stopping at railroad crossings was urged and proper placing of railroad crossings signs was discussed it was pointed out that the sign at the crossing at sigurd is too close to the track seldom and in some areas never do motorists observe the law of stopping while buses are being unloaded drivers reported road conditions between venice and richfield snow blockading blac kading in the kooshak em area in the winter and overloading of buses in the richfield and monroe areas were discussed as being unsatisfactory need for no parking signs on the south entrance to the richfield high school was taken up members were appointed bocon to contact the school board P T A units and richfield city officials to seek cooperation in problems discussed following the meeting the bus drivers enjoyed a supper at lynns cafe the membership includes emery nielson lige goulding reed hyatt clarence savage sidney robinson reed burr lionel C payne C W powell jr N J worrill morrill ossil mecham albert bridges james levi george robinson R W pinney ben morrill morrill and W L warner mr air PoN powell vell insurance agent and mr air warner of the school board were with the group thursday efforts will be made to have at least two members from every P T A unit join the association ocia tion |
