| Show OUTLOOK BRIG I 1 FOR WITOL BEEF MONUMENT fag park officials and grazier agree on driveway for livestock representatives of the national park service met with A W magleby of monroe grazier for district no 5 taylor grazing act saturday at torrey for the purpose of designating and agreeing upon a stock driveway through the proposed capitol reef national monument the conference was successful in its purpose and it was stated by the visiting officials including dave madsen in charge of wild life for the national park service and the superintendents of zion and mesa verde national parks that they expected any day to be advised that the president had signed the proclamation declaring the capitol reef or wayne wonderland area a national monument this information confirms the reports received in recent weeks by the associated civic clubs of southern utah and by E P of torrey who for years has been interested in having the area designated as a national monument or park even though the region has always been known as wayne wonderland due primarily to its location in wayne county the national park service has recommended to the department of the interior that it be called capitol reef national monument the boundary of the monument will be some 25 miles east of loa towards the colorado river and will include some of the most unusual scenery in the west according to those who have visited it dr J E broaddus of salt lake city recently said it is more valuable from a scenic standpoint than either bryce or zion national parks eventually a road will be constructed ted connecting the wayne co county anty region with the natural bridges national monument of san juan county and other recreational scenic spots of eastern utah and western colorado |
