Show TO 01 0 by blochl llos many projects suggested for consideration of welfare committees while not a great deal was definitely accomplished at the lions club meeting last wednesday night suggestions were made that will probably lead to some very worthy projects being undertaken the meeting was said to be the best of any held in many months among the projects mentioned were the following paving sidewalks on center street from main street to the high school building a road up the west slope of cove mountain from near annabella placing welcome signs at each entrance to the city building tennis courts on the public park and at the natatorium construction of a tunnel under main street for the use of school children out fitting the high school band with uniforms plant a lawn on the corner of main and center streets which is now vacant construct a concrete band stand on the same ground and others the projects were all turned over to the civic welfare committee to report on at the next meeting mayor W L warner in connection with some of the projects said that there was little possibility of the city putting out money for materials and insurance in any large quantities the labor for the projects it is expected can be obtained through the FERA following the general mee meeting the board of directors met for outlining plans for the district convention to be held here some time in august joseph L asbury was placed in charge of publicity and later announced plans for sending to every club in the district utah and idaho a series of letters or bulletins to promote interest in the convention the tentative plan is to explain the facilities richfield has for handling the convention and then follow up with mention of the marvelous scenic and other attractions which can be visited while on the same trip financing the convention was also talked over and a dance picture show and a minstrel show will probably be decided upon as means of raising money |
