Show SCHOOL BOARD FOB OPENING TERM teachers institute scheduled for september J 7 at richfield various matters relative to the opening of the schools september 10 came before the board of education in their regular meeting monday the purchase of a forge and two ather pieces of machinery for the shop at salina was authorized it was decided some time ago that the registration fee for high school students would be cut to 2 payable at the time of re registration s tra tion to take care of lab laboratory a and equipment costs heretofore taken care of by the registration fee the board decided that high schools must present requisitions to the office to secure equipment the requisitions to be passed on by the board A limit of 1 per student registered will be allowed high schools for laboratory work and teachers will be asked to budget laboratory supplies accordingly the board decided to transport first and second grade pupils from burrville Burr ville to koosharem Koo sharem at noon provided dome some satisfactory arrangement ran gement can be made with someone in burrville Burr ville to drive a car J 0 superintendent and douglas Q cannon clerk of the diute piute school district attended the meeting and following a discussion with them the board decided to enter into a contract with piute diute for schooling box creek children at koosharem Koo Hoo sharem provided satisfactory terms can be arranged september 7 was set as the date for a teachers institute at richfield the general program calls for departmental sessions starting at a m the pr primary i department will be under direction of mrs elise stillman supervisor teachers of the elementary grades will discuss the unit method of organizing instruction the junior and senior high schools will discuss the home room organization and guidance program for senior high schools in this department A M maughan principal of the richfield high school will explain the program proposed for the richfield high school and don E kenney of the faculty will discuss the work from the point of view of a course he took during the summer A general session for all teachers will be held at 1130 a m at which superintendent A J ashman will discuss matters pertaining to the schools and a program of music will be presented the next meeting of the board will be held wednesday august 29 rather than on monday as usual because of the fact that superintendent ashman will be in salt lake for a convention on monday |
