Show SUCCESS CLUB convention HELD AT 00 attend sanpete sevier district sessions friday with a representation of the majority of clubs of the district the convention of the sanpete sevier district federation of clubs was held at monroe friday the convention was a distinct success the marked ability of the federation officers and the fhe he hearty y response of those called to a assist i s t in going over the top with t the h e convention this year made the affair a continuous round of activities from 9 a m until 10 a m the high school band under the direction of wesley pearce gave a concer concert t as the ladies registered and received programs and filed into the assembly hall ball for the morning se session of the convention president rita brown presided over the meetings and gave an address on the conservation of the welfare of our children mayor lucian winget of monroe gave the belcome welcome address A response was given by anna of ephraim mrs helen poulson of the richfield study club sang homing and responded to an encore mrs H C jacobs of mt alt pleasant who has been affiliated with the clubs for years past was an interesting speaker on the subject of the federation lieutenant ferdinand erickson of the monroe american legion post led in the salute to the flag the moroni club furnished two musical numbers and the salina quartet sang two nearly ladies were seated at the long table in the amusement hall at 1230 for the annual banquet during which alta magleby acted as toastmistress reba of richfield gave a short talk to the spirit of 76 nita hansen to the memories of george washington mr air and mrs J G hilgendorff of richfield furnished musical numbers responses from clubs in music were also very much appreciated by the ladies at the ladies reassembled in the assembly hall where president rita brown called the meeting to order and the minutes of last years convention held at ephraim were read by tina larsen secretary A response to the roll call showed the clubs of the district are arc awake and making their growth felt by the increase in membership and in attendance at the annual gatherings mrs weston vernon vemon state president of clubs from logan was the principal speaker she brought out very forcibly the value of citizenship and what women can accomplish in building up a high standard of cithens in a community in the business called before the ladies the invitation of the manti clubs to hold the 1933 convention in that city was accepted and officers chosen to make plans and arrangements were appointed following the meeting and as a mark of the good will of the monroe club a tea was given in the banquet rooms |
