Show GEO F PRINCIPAL SPEAKER AT af I 1 A session draws un usually large crowd the quarterly conference of the sevier stake was held here saturday evening and sunday with three sessions presided over by president R D young the general church authorities were represented by george F richards of the council of the twelve the fine rendition of sacred music saturday evening by the third waid choir under direction of mrs florence anderson and sunday by the stake choir directed by mrs helen poulson added to the success of the conference misses gwen christensen and melba cope acted as accompanists tile the attendance compared favorably with that of previous conferences feren ces and at the al I 1 A session sunday evening with in attendance probably exceeded that of most al 1 I A sessions previously held in the stake speakers saturday evening were elder richards F H gunn of the stake presidency and wayne christensen the sunday school membership was invited to attend the sunday morning session and although no program was given for them president jas M peterson interested the children with faith promoting incidents as also did president james R ware of the south sevier stake elder richards at this session spoke on the subject of marriage as a sacred principal of the L D S belief and the restoration of the priesthood in this dispensation speakers at the sunday afternoon session were elder richards and president R D young general and stake authorities were presented by W A clerk and unanimously sustained it was announced that joseph lewellyn youn young son of president and mrs R D young had accepted a call to the swiss german mission he will leave the first of november tile the al 1 I A session was conducted by miss bliss rachel young and featured a theme introductory to the annual era week october 11 to IS 18 during which the M I 1 A will endeavor to place their magazine the improvement era in the home of every al M I 1 A member special musical numbers were selections by two quartets one directed by albert of glenwood and one by miss bliss ruby thurber the work of the M I 1 A with reference to the problems of youth was discussed by frank cowley and the adult problem by W A dae coons read an article by president john A widtsoe on the word of wisdom miss rachel young took as lier her subject the al I 1 A slogan and miss una peterson spoke of the improvement era as a friend dr otto L anderson stake president of the Y al M I 1 A and president R D young c concluded the program with brief remarks th the e invocation was offered by president jas M peterson and the benediction by mrs hanmer peterson era programs will be given in in all wards of the stake next sunday evening |
