Show NEW OFFICERS of LOCAL LIONS CLUB ta K OVER JOB airport community brooder and support for mining major activities the first meeting of the richfield lions club under the direction of the new officers was held monday the new president J milton olsen in the chair the other new officers are guy lewis vice president J R barker secretary treasurer A M maughan V M fairbanks W D fitzgerald and george peterson I 1 directors lion president olsen outlined the work and problems for the coming year emphasizing three majr major activities to wit the establishing of an airport the proposition of a community brooder and wholehearted whole hearted support for ou our mining undertakings the community brooder was fully explained by john R adams smith hughes teacher of our high school who was the original sponsor of this activity and stated that things have progressed to such a point that negotiations can be started for acquiring the grounds where the brooder is to be installed in the matter of our mineral deposits james B allen alien E F B daude and ernest C were the speakers mr allen alien spoke interestingly on the possibilities of the bone dry group of claims regarding which he be expressed his opinion on that his experience and judgment had bad lead him to select the location of a real mine ernest C gave a brief history of the events leading to the organization of the richfield silver lead zinc co and concluded by stating that the hopes of the men who had had faith in sevier countes coun tys mineral possibilities ties were about to be realized the bone dry group of claims Is is now being actively worked with the finest prospects for a rich mine the copper deposits have been explored to the depth of 1000 feet and at that depth rich ores have been encountered capitalists who have beep interested will shortly be here to make further investigations mr daude spoke of the as well as the non deposits in sevier valley and informed the lions that engineers and capitalists from st louis will be here in about ten days days to investigate non deposits especially silica sands and other minerals going into the manufacture of glass A committee was appointed to investigate vesti gate the possibilities of a community brooder this committee to consist of roy hatch john stewart and arch gray the meeting was held in the old dining room of the johnston hotel and the dining table was decorated with flowers generously contributed by mesdames A 0 and M C nelson |
