Show SCOUT HILO 9 1 MON HOE WAS BIG SUCCESS richfield troop no 1 makes highest number of points in contest the boy scout jamboree held in monroe last week tuesday was successful in every respect ten troops from the several stakes in sevier county and one troop from panguitch took part in the events and the spectators numbered well over 1000 the boys exhibited unusual skill in the various phases of the contest and the first troop of richfield came out with the most points to their credit the jamboree was opened with a parade which formed at the monroe high school with the colors and color guard at the lead followed by the band the scout officials and executives panguitch troop the sevier vier stake troops north sevier troops and south sevier troops commissioner C J olsen of sevier stake mounted on a fine saddle horse directed the march and served as marshal of the day A short program under the direction of commissioner C A white of south sevier was conducted at the grove near the old north ward meeting house immediately thereafter the entire group marched back to the high school campus where the contests were held in which broo troop P no I 1 of richfield took first place with points the glenwood troop was second with sixty eight points central third with sixty two monroe troop no 1 fourth with forty eight salina troop no 2 fifth with forty seven aurora sixth with forty venice seventh with thirty five richfield troop no 3 eighth with sixteen salina troop no I 1 ninth with fourteen panguitch tenth with thirteen points to their credit the following events counted for credits marching relay tent pitching handicraft wigwag wig wag signaling ser signaling first class first aid second class first aid fire making by friction fire making with flint and steel rope spinning knot tying cooking and swimming n g |
