Show faculty displays histrionic His talent the high school auditorium was not as crowded since may 1926 when six ty three students received ther their grad lation atio diplomas as it was Thurs thursday dav vc ning when the thespians Thespian ss of tha faculty put on their annual play and be it said right here that none of the many people who came and about fifty per cent of them had to bo be led up in tile the uncomfortable seats to accommodate the audience none of them left but were more than satisfied fied with the splendid dramatic offering the writer himself whose professional fess ional duty and at times not just a pleas pleasant sant dut it is to attend all the professional ana amateur performances and who very frequently has to overcome the handicaps set to him by tile the maxime maxima known kno wil from george washing tons time that lie cannot tell a lie and has to cover with a broad mantel of charity the shortcomings of the actors this time can stick strictly to the truth in saying that it was by far the best non profession al performance he has seen during his seven yeara yean of critical activities in our city the most pleasing and most commendable part of the performance was wa the fact that even those who played only small roles excelled in acting and in adapting themselves to ohp alifi general situation the leading lady and the leading men therefore will anvill forgive us as if we mention the representatives of the small parts first and state that J W olsen as butler J R barker as crook dwight buchanan ray beal J T J as detectives J T L terry convicted for a cume that he never had coan committed bitted and crisses phyllis fisher and nina hamsh as the domestics domestico would be more than good enough for any professional company As far as the leading parts are concerned they were given in a manner reflecting highest credit to each md and everyone miss margaret la rgaret swanson as miss fairchild Fairchil tl and moroni snaith principal maughan hp and joseph nelson nelson as the three wise wise fools findlay gaunt and paul packard as the faithful lover did work of a high older and while praise has to be given to all of them we must not overlook one who modestly stood in the background behind the scenes watching and directing miss nial nelson tile deficient dramatic teacher of our school who undoubtedly had to bear the brunt of the work of directing rehear rehearsing ang staging and making the entire performance as well rounded as it was our judgment that it was the best professional nonprofessional non performance sem seen here in many years is is fully backed by the entire audience who so greatly enjoyed the ever evening arg and more especially by the president of our school board judge hayes who in leaving let iving stated this was the best laugh I 1 had in many years so well pleased was the audience that they prevailed upon director and performers to repeat the play and they all graciously 9 ra clo asly consented consents d to put it on once more the repeat performance has been set for friday march 4 at p TO sharp |
