Show TO TEST FO ap 19 it t IN COHN U S and state agricultural departments part ments will assist local veterinarians arrangements have been made with the state board of agriculture and the bureau of animal husbandry of the U S derailment of agriculture to have the dairy cattle of sevier county tested for tuberculosis during the fust filst three weeks of february dr W H hendricks state veterinarian has advised county agent S R boswell that lie he has arranged to send doctors jones and parry from salt lake city to assist doctors curtis and in carrying out the test in this county during the month of february 1924 dairy cattle were tested for this dread disease and were found to react to this test the re niters were nere removed to salt lake city and slaughtered under government supervision and some terrible tei cases of the disease were discovered the second test was carried on in sevier county in june and july of 1025 at the time animals ani nials were tested and 55 react reactors ers found it is more than probable that there is a large number lumber I 1 of reactors react eri in this county and a nd it is to the advantage of all dairymen as well as milk con consumers to have this risk taken out of the dairy business it is advised by everyone every in connection with dairy improvement work wor k that all dairy cattle should be tested at least once a year to eliminate this dread disease the laws davs of the state of utah make it compulsory that all cattle being milked must be tested or the animals and tile the products product of tile the same will be quarantined and not be allowed to leave the premises dr hendricks announces that thal 1 he expects to enforce this law to the letter this year because of the fact that the budget for this in the state department of agriculture is depleted it will again be necessary to collect a fee of per head for adult cattle arrangements range ments have been made to test all heifers heffers between the ages of three months month and the time of freshening fre freshening 9 free of charge all ani animals nials that have ever freshened and all dairy daily bulls must be tested it is not compulsory to have ran range il 1 e cattle tested but if dairymen are interested in having their range cows treated for this disease they are entitled to do so by paying the necessary fe fee e dr hendricks also announces that each dairyman must either tie tic his cows or must provide a chute or pen in which to confine the cattle in order that the operation mav be performed the local farm bureaus in each community will appoint men to assist the veterinarians in the work and be responsible for tile the collection of tile the fe fee C the following schedule for the test has been arranged january 31 cove joseph sevier and clear creek february 1 monroe and vicinity february 2 elsinore and dicinit vicinity Y this includes all ranches from the alfalfa mill north brooklyn elsinore city and austin the next three days will be used in in the inspection of the animals february 7 central and annabella Annabe IIa february 8 richfield february 9 glenwood GI enwood and venice the next three days will be used for inspections february 11 14 1 1 sigurd vermilion and aurora february 15 salina and lost creek february 16 redmond kovshar em cm and burrville Burr ville the next three days will be used for inspection it is ia desired by all cooperating parties that dairymen prepare now to have all of their dairy cattle tested for this dreadful di disease |
