Show JUDGE IS BY of 1 11 retiring district judge eulogized and presented with valuable white gold watch the term of district judge J H erickson of the sixth judicial district consisting of sevier wayne garneld garfield and kane counties expired monday and judge NL J bates elected in the november elections is now presiding over the judicial district saturday morning judge erickson disposed of the last case set for trial during his term and immediately after finishing the business of the day his fellow members of the Ri richfield clifield bar and the court officers of the county gathered around him to thank him for his excellent service on the bench to wish him success in whatever he undertakes undertake 8 after retiring from his elated position and to pic amt him with a beautiful white gold watch as token of their esteem gratitude appreciation and friendship the presentation speech was made by judge H N hayes who referred to juige judge ericksone Erick sons long service to the public covering a period of nearly 24 years during which mr air erickson distinguished himself in excellent performance of his duties as county attorney district attorney and presiding judge always considerate of the parties and attorn attorneys e ys coming into anto court and always meting out justice to ao the best of his knowledge and mccoT according ding to his best conscience he concluded cone eluded with the assurance of the warm friendship all members of the bar and court officers have for the Te and with best wishes for his success in further life judge bates who succeeds judge u dge erickson expressed his feelings feeling in a similar vein attorney 0 R spoke of his long acquaintance with the judge and thanked him especially ally for the way he assisted young attorneys when they started their trial career and mayor alayo r pailey magleby ala leby endorsed in his speech everything the other speakers of the occasion had said judge erickson then expressed his sincerest appreciation and thanks for the splendid remarks that had bad been made the splendid token that had been presented him and the splendid assistance the members of the bar and court officers had given him during his terms of office finally also congratulating judge bates to his election adding that he has full confidence in the new judge as a learned jurist and upright citizen which served serve so well in A 24 be re sustained the committee was as follows J H payne W S greenwood and L W jones county agent S R boswell spoke on the importance of a livestock marketing association louis W gardner made the motion that this association recommend to the state organization that an effort be made to have this matter presented to the fortico forthcoming ming state convention the proposition of holding a farmers and housekeepers convention in connection with the different high schools was discussed at length and the plan submitted by the county agent was approved the following farm bureau presidents pre were appointed as chain chairmen nen of district committees to assist the county agent with the work thomas crane salina martines christensen richfield A F kotter elsinore EI I 1 the question of attendance at the state farm bureau convention january 2123 21 23 was discussed at length the motion was passed that 2500 be allotted to each local in the county for representation to the state convention ven tion the meeting was largely attended and was very enthusiastic throughout |
