Show BOY SCOUTS CO WITH cooperative agreement to develop scouts and protect forests A cooperative agreement designed to develop the interest of the boy scouts of america in forestry and in the use and protection of the national forests and to secure their help in aprea spreading ding the conservation idea among our citizens has just been signed by regional scout executive chas na N miller los lo s angeles on behalf of the boy scouts of america region twelve and united states district foresters R H rutledge ogden utah paul G ROd redington ington san francisco and frank C pooler albuquerque new mexico for the forest service according to a report made public by the federal forestry headquarters in this city all boy scouts and U S forest service officers in in california nevada utah and arizona the states comprising region twelve of the boy scouts organization will cooperate in this work under the terms of the agreement the U S forest service agrees to lease available camp sites within the national forests to the boy scouts to cooperate in the teaching of forestry and wood lore to give employment ato 0 o qualified scouts in train building and forest protection work where such employment is sa sanctioned nc by law and funds are available and to give suitable recognition to all scouts who p perform 1 meritorious work or service the boy scouts of america in turn agree to practice and preach care with fire in the woods to leave camps clean and signs to distribute literature during forest protection and fire prevention campaigns and to assist where practicable in national forest improvement work boy scouts and forest service have long been cooperating informally states district forester R H rutledge this boimal agree agreement iii ent will go to make their relationship even more intimate however and will serve to promote the ideals of both partners in the contract to a greater degree |
