Show 0 y U HEHE A rex johnson of provo secretary of the brigham young university alumni association accompanied by mr bayack of the same body of former B Y U students was in richfield sunday to assist in organizing a local branch of B Y U alumni A meeting was called at 2 p m at the second ward meeting house and about GO 60 former students of the famous provo school were present to partake in the discussion which led to the organization of the richfield branch this is the twenty sixth alumni club formed throughout the past two months all in preparation for the semi centennial of the founding of the which will be celebrated next october among the former B Y U students who were attending were a few who claim the distinction of having been at the B Y U when the school first started activities like mrs george beal a student of 1876 1875 W H robinson of the class of 1883 virg bean of the class of 1884 and S G dark clark of 1885 the meeting was very enthusiastic and students ts of the oldest classes joined with those of later years in in singing the college song with a vim like they had bad practiced it every day since ince they had left their beloved alma alina mater mr johnson informed the audience of the aims and purposes of the gathering and showed a large number of lantern slides demonstrating the growth of the school and of the city of provo campus activities etc mrs leslie poulson herself a B Y U alumna delighted the audience with a soprano solo and immediately thereafter the attendants proceeded to organize A ai J ashman was elected president pre 1 aident Ms mrs parley magleby vice ap resident and geo M cope secretary and treasurer the mother association will furnish the richfield branch with a draft of a constitution and bylaws which will be discussed at the next meeting of the new and so auspiciously organized club |
