Show V U A C CATALOG IS OFF THE PRESS school year beginning on september 1 24 14 important changes in entrance E and gi initiation re announced the 1923 24 catalog of tile the utah agricultural college is just oft off the press and is ready for distribution according to an announcement just made by professor D E robinson editor of the publication copies of the catalog will bo be sent to all high school graduates in utah to colleges universities and libraries throughout the united states and to a mailing list of several hundreds made up of requests for the book the 1923 24 school year will open with registration tor for old and 11 new ew students on oil monday september 24 according to the catalog the catalog shows an all active faculty I 1 list of eighty seven members of these sixteen have degrees of doctor of philosophy and thirty six hold masters degrees the catalog announces several im important changes in entrance and graduation requirements briefly summarized these are as follows I 1 graduates of accredited high schools may enter the college but candidates for degrees froust present as part of their high school work the following units or their equivalent english 3 units algebra 1 unit geometry or equivalent mathematics one unit social science one unit natural science requiring laboratory work one unit 2 upon the completion of two years of carefully selected work at the college the student will be granted gra anted a junior college certificate and this certificate is a prerequisite to entrance to senior college courses and to the bachelors degree 3 A student may rank as conditional freshman provided he is deficient in not more than one unit of high agh school work 4 students who enter the vocational t course must be nineteen years year s old or over another change of the 1923 24 catalog over previous issues Is a regrouping of the tha departments in order to emphasize different fields of instruction and eight hundred gewn ty eight courses in the following schools agriculture engineering home economics mechanic arts commerce and administration and basic arts and science A summary of attendance in the catalog shows that the college had a total enrollment last year of 1732 while registration in correspondence and extension courses and in short courses and conventions brings the total enrollment up to of the 1732 students in residence 93 were in the graduate school tile the catalog shows that nine were graduated last commencement with masters degrees and that one hundred thirteen received tho the degree of bachelor of science |
