Show 0 0 o I 1 RICHFIELD HIGH I 1 SCHOOL 0 0 schedule of high school activities for week of feb 22 to mar 1 special birthday program at 1030 followed by matinee dance in gym wednesday february 22 basketball Baske ball game between richfield and monroe at monroe friday february 24 0 0 richfield gunnison game although the basketball game between tween richfield Richtie ld and gunnison was riot 0 o exciting as previous games it was well worth going to gunnison was defeated badly but it was not because they did not work for they put forth their best efforts we must remember that this is their first year of basketball our team showed what they could do and it was more noticeable because they were playing a slower and weaker team all the stunts seemed new to gunnison or were pulled too cleverly for them As a result the score at the end of the first halt half stood 6 27 Richt Rich ields fields favor and at the end of the last half 1550 15 50 Rich fields favor we hope the boys will continue the good work and nd the student body will back them to the end 0 ft monday assembly the usual monday morning assembly was held at nine mr terry explained to the students the national song week after which ho be led the school in singing loves old sweet song invocation was offered by mr harrington the regular senior talk was ably by ruth Fl heppler eppler her subject being the girl of tod today ay 11 sha brought up some very good of today and the girl of yesterday after several announcements regular classes were vere resumed 0 0 0 at the last faculty meeting the students who were continuing to fail in two or more subjects were given careful consideration and the principal was instructed to communicate with the parents of several and suggest that the boys might spend their time more profitably at farm work than to be loafing in school the faculty also considered the problem of requirements for graduation and while final action on the matter was postponed the fal lowing suggestions were made that begin ing with the year 1923 all students who graduate from high school will be required to have taken as follows three units of english two units of social science civics and american history two units of exact selene science e phys ghys acs ics cs chemistry algebra and geometry I 1 S unit of physical education 3 10 unit of music the dramatic cast is hard at work for the preparation of the play which is to be produced at the opera house march 3 I 1 T the class debating teams are pre karinz for the contest which will be held thursday and friday the assembly held at the high school friday february 17 was of much interest to the students and we hope it will prove to be of value to them after a short yell practice dr gledhill gave a talk on the me medical di profession thid is we beg beginning billing of a series of speeches to be given by the leading men of richfield every friday morning to the student body the tat talks ks will be on the different professions such NN e hope to help the students in choosing a vocation suited to them or as dr gledhill said to make the sq square aare people hit into the square holes the round people into the round holes arid and riot not the round people into the square holes aton and ns as ideal americans february though the shortest month in the year stands highest in the scale when viewed by the true american for it has given us the two men most beloved by our nation to the genuine american the names of washington and lincoln set throbbing that pulse of profound I 1 admiration and reverence it is only ones soul that kno knows w or senses the true feeling of pride some say but they are dead an and ami d gone cone are chev do we thinie nf death and the tomb when wo we hear those names no we see not lot tue cold form but before our mind f arise the most noble of men ti filled with the warmth and vigor of life iio which keeps them active in the deeds iced of strength they will vill ever live in the page of life as men of character and soul not as imaginary heroes or of 1 perfection but men of reality men of action to whom principal mean all they are americas living lights giving inspiration their gift was v as riot not one of material value we ve t today 0 day with our modern inventions could far surpass them in many ways had they been of mere material value then we might think of them as dead for material things perish As it is washington and lincoln live today in every american horne home with the essence of liberty and justice theirs is eternal liffin life jn american democracy THELIMA JACKSON |
