Show 0 additional SCHOOL NEWS 0 0 continued from page six monday april 10 we saw some queer looking colonial wigs stovepipe hats royal robes and several other things which made us suspect that something was wrong furthermore at 3 15 several gentlemen 0 of very queer types were marching toward tho the opera house when the photographer came to get sir mr hansen hansell we surmised that the leading characters in ill the opera chimes of normandy were going to have their pictures taken when some of 0 the girls began passing pictures we saw that our surmises were correct these pictures will be placed on the bills to advertise the chimes of normandy which will be presented in salina may 3 and in redmond nd may 4 ai thursday several students rushed at top speed to the t lie basement to rescue some screaming lady from a terrible disaster only to be lau laughed hed at by some actors from the dramatic dragat department part ment who were practicing a certain scene in the burglar this reminds us that within two weeks N S will have four one act plays ready for production two of the best of these plays together with some mu numbers will be presented as a concluding lyceum number we do not know which of the four will bo be presented tor for they say it is a close contest however knowing that these queer noises in the basement arenor are tor tile the good of the school we will tolerate them a little longer 4 mr hansen is advertising tar far and wide for crowbars he wants one that is in the correct pitch to represent the bells in tile the chimes of normandy he says that no two crowbars are alike and ile he ought soon to find one that will do now who would have known crowbars had tunes were thinking this is a queer camouflage some of the teachers of N S H S who are to teach here next year received their contracts together with cuts in salaries to be paid next year the students fear that because of the cuts in salaries several of the teachers who have helped to make this school year such a successful one will not renew their contracts we sincerely hope this will not happen i the city council has furnished the 1 material for fifty hurdles and now tho the carpenters of the school are busy testing their skill ir in maling and painting this equipment for the track meet ruth talked to us friday in assembly on obedience probably we wont bo be such disobedient children after listening to such a convincing speech tho the seventh graders have been studying newspaper work lately and tt it is surprising what good reporters they make one was even dispatched to interview mr evans about his bis accomplishments for this year and mr evans evang declares ho he was a target tor volleys volley of questions tor for very nearly a half hour besides gathering news these ambitious students have been learning how to express their opinion editorially As a result they aro demanding a few rights which heretofore have been denied seventh graders aders er it seems that this class is becoming a live wire which will send a good many more vibrations trough through this school than any stu dents this young have done in the past mr evans is optimistic for he oven even sees a bright side to this snowstorm he explains that it will help so much in packing the cinder track more thoroughly for the big event on may 5 |
