Show disastrous ME NARROWLY AVERTED homo home of judko 7 J H erickson is scene of 19 cioll water pressure arct burc is inadequate to to carry water to plaines Pl anies that richfield is badly in need of water pressure was again demonstrated last wednesday afternoon when the horne home of judge J H erickson brickson came nearly going up in ill smoke the fire was discovered in an all upper room and before help heln reached scene it had spread to nearly all quarters ot ahe roof the fire bell summoned help and the house furnishings were removed to tile the front porch hy by one group of citizens rhile mille another group procured ladders and climbed to the roof A line of hose was laid front from the corner of main alain and second north streets and this was nas carried to the roof tho the water was shut off from the south and east and an the available supply was turned into the hose in ill spite of this effort the water would not reach higher than the porch buckets were ware procured and the water wa wag transferred from the hose to the burning root roof in this good old fashioned way the work was effective fec tive although it took time however the fire was stopped and that was as the objective the damage from fire and water is I 1 estimated it at something near 1000 the origin of the fire is given as either a detective defective flue fille or defective defect ivo wiling wil ing |
