Show L 15 I 1 M b I 1 1 E 11 iff WITH f im attendance am an MR success crowns efforts of fair management with record brea king crowds exhibits races sports and music are A re good the sevier county fair association has again presented a successful fair and the attendance has eclipsed all former fairs the gates were thrown open thursday and a record crowd for the opening day was in attendance the exhibits are attracting much attention the livestock and poultry departments are tilled filled with biti choice specimens the agricultural and horticultural displays are probably not so large as in some years but the quality of the products is as fine as can be found anywhere in the state the domestic and fine arts department is a joy to the housewives as needlework painting and culinary triumphs are here found chief interest each afternoon centers in the amusements offered both thursday and friday the grandstands were crowded and hundreds of outos autos parked along both sides of the race track furnished seats for several thousand spectators the horse races brought excitement to the highest pitch while broncho riding steer riding steer roping exhibitions and auto races furnished a card that was a winner the auto race yesterday afternoon was called off at the last minute because two of the cars when beginning a circuit of the track to warm up the engines collided and both cars were put out of commission all kinds of games and refreshment stands are on the grounds and old and young are enjoying the bustle activity and excitement of tho the fair on thursday tho the elsinore joseph band pleased the crowds with music and the richfield band held forth yesterday adding to the gaiety of tho the occasion it is estimated that over were in attendance at the fair yesterday one of the features that has attracted much attention is the buffalo riding an old hero of the plains Is on the job prepared to pile any rider who attempts to ride him bishop joseph fairbanks formerly of annabella a man who when younger could ride anything that ran the range made the effort to stick the buffalo but after a 1 few pleasant minutes in the saddle the bison put the bishop on the ground everybody who tried to ride the buffalo was thrown by actual count cars passed through the gates yesterday one of the causes tor for complaint was as the crowding onto th e ofir spectators to the utter excle exclusion sion of 0 others iho had paid their admissions inions many suggest that more police polee be put on the track to keep heep spectators back of the fence A complete and detailed report of prize winners will appear next week |
