Show Egg Prices Ars Improving New York egg prices are already reflecting some improvement :n general business and industrial conditions, declared Benjamin Brown, director of markets for the Utah Poultry Producers Cooperative Coopera-tive association, upon his arrival in Utah recently rrom his eastern headquarters. Prices on. Utah eggs especially during the past month have increased in-creased several cents per dozer, giving definite indication that the wheels of the nation's business an 1 industry are gaining speed. With the improvement in gen-err', gen-err', conditions, comes a corresponding corres-ponding increase in consumers purchasing power and already this is reacting on egg prices, Mr. Brown explained. The New York egg market before be-fore Christmas hit a low record despite the fact that ore-holiday seasons normally see the years' : best prices: Thus the increase: in egg prices during the past j month, at a time when they usual- j ly drop sharply, gives more sign'f- j icance than usual to this upward trend. It is hardly to be expected, how- ever, that any real noticeable jump in prices will come for several sev-eral months.. Present low egj and poultry prices will weed out marginal producers all over the country. Many producers, especially espec-ially in theu norganized sections' of the east and mid-west, will drop out and others will fail to replenish replen-ish their floclts. In this manner present low pri ces will ,be a benefit in disguise for the poultry men who weathw the storm. Production is moot certain to fall off, demand increas:-with increas:-with improvement in general conditions, con-ditions, and the survivors win again be assured of handsome profits. prof-its. Mr. Brown came to Utah to deliver de-liver one of the principal addresses addres-ses at the annual convention o: the Utah poultry association set for January 19 o 21 at the New-house New-house hotel in Salt Lake. |
