Show FAIRVIEW j 1 By Special Correspondence Officers nominated at the Democratic primary Saturday were: H. P. Hansen for mayor; Merlin H. Madsen, four-vear councilman; Bernard Lassen Newel B. Cox and C. V. Howell, two-year councilmen; Reeve Norman, Nor-man, recorder; Reed M. Lassen, treasurer. The following officers wc-v nominated at the Republican rally Saturday evening: James H. Sanderson, mayor; Oscar I. Amundsen, four-year councilman: Floyd Young, E. H. Anderson ant( Reed Peterson, two-year council-men; council-men; Reeve Norman, recorder, John R. Graham, treasurer. Funeral services for Edmund L. Terry, who died at Salt Lake, were held here Saturday atter-noon. atter-noon. He was born at Fort Union, Utah, April 20, 1854, and came to Fairview with the first settlers. Bishop Peter Nielson presided. Hans P. Hansen, J. P. Jordan, A. R. Anderson and Bishop Nielson were the speakers They all spoke well of his life. He was always cheerful. Lee Barker, Floyd Young and Mrs. George F. Olsen sang solos. Many beuati-ful beuati-ful flowers were given. Peter Peterson dedicated the grave in the Fairview Cemetary. Mr. and Mrs. David Sanderson cf Hinckley came to Fairvie-.v this week. They expect to spend the winter here. The South ward relief society gave a very successful dance at the Amusement Hall on ucioDer 17th. The proceeds will go toward to-ward helping the poor. Sunday School Ward conference was held at Fairview October 13. The special program included : song by the kindergarten undti the direction of Mrs. Peter Nielsen; Niel-sen; lesson demonstration by the primary under the direction of Miss Ceva Norman; a story by Lenore Cox of the Church history class; Sunday School officers offi-cers were presented by President Otis Nielson. The following program was given giv-en at the ward meeting: talk. Superintendent Lawrence Allred of the Sunday School; dialogue, Fern Chenoy and Harley Bohne: demonstration, Oleta Bohne and Charles Hansen; a double mixed quartette under the direction direc-tion of H. P. Hansen; a talk on the Word of Wisdom, Burns Cox. |
