Show Whelan Writes Laugh Story For Wheeler and Woolsey i "There are two colorful spots rn the map of the world today a big one known as Soviet Russia, and a small one known as Reno, Nevada." So says Tim Whelan, nationally known humorist, playwright, and screen author, whose latest story, "Peach O' Reno," is the feature at the Elite Theatre Thursday and Friday, May 12th and 13th. "Whelan investigated Reno, wrote of it in hilarious comedy-vein, comedy-vein, and sold his original story to RKO-Radio Pictures studio. It has been made into a truly all-star all-star comedy feature bringing together to-gether again Bert Wheeler, Robert Rob-ert Woolsey and Dorothy Lee. Ralph Spence, brilliant dialogue and scenario writer, wrote the finished script, and William A. Seiter, a director particularly famous fam-ous for his comedies, piloted the production to a mirthful finish. "Peach O' Reno," as a result, is raid to "outfun" even "Caught Plastered," the Wheeler-Woolsey laugh riot that preceded it. Among the favorites of the supporting sup-porting cast are Zelma O'Neal, who plays opposite Woolsey; Joseph Jos-eph Cawthorn of "Dixiana" and "The Run-a-round", Cora With-eispoon, With-eispoon, a stage favorite; Sam Hardy; Mitchell Harris and Arthur Ar-thur Hoyt. The 'celebrated comedy team appears ap-pears in "Peach O' Reno" as the town's most popular pair of divorce di-vorce lawyers, and from start to finish Reno, its divorces and divorcees di-vorcees and gambling and night life, are colorfully depicted and satirized. The fun is hilarious and ridiculous, but just real enough to give one who hasn't seen Reno a very good idea of "America's bright spot." |
