Show Tragedy As Teacher It seems that it often takes an appalling ap-palling tragedy to impress mankind vith the necessity for ordinary safety precautions, and even tragedy fails to teach its lesson in most cases. Last week another death resulted from an accident on the public highway. high-way. A farm wagon came on the highway late at night without any light whatsoever. An automobile came along, crashed into the wagon and a life is lost. Three or four more lives might have been lost had the collision been somewhat different. There is every reason to belive hat Melvin Morgan would still have been among the living today had the laws of the land been observed and a light placed upon the rear of the wagon when it was pulled upon the highway There is a state law which provides that all vehicles must carry a light while traveling on the highway in the dark of night. Only a short time ago a horse was killed near Fail-view. Many of the resident of Sanpete Valley Val-ley may be displeased to have their attention at-tention called to this laxness upon the part of individuals driving on the high way at night, but how would No. 1 feel if he was mixed up in one of these mishaps which could be avoided by having a light in the proper manner. How would No. 1 feel if he came out with a broken leg, arm or head? Why not try to save a life or two instead of being so careless and thot-less? |
