Show The July issue of the Utah Taxpayer, Tax-payer, official organ of the Utah Taxpayers Association, will raise the question whether or not people on the public payroll should b& subjected to tho same economic laws respecting income as are the taxpayers who supply the money. In this issue it states that citizens are divided into two classes the sheltered and the exposed. The publication calls attention to the condition of the farmer whose tax bill constantly increases year after year while the prices of his commodities are lowered. While it demands 100 bushels of wheat this year to pay his tax debt when wheat is $1 per bushel, it will require re-quire 200 bushels of wheat to meet the same obligation next year when wheat is selling at 50 cents per bushel And so tho question is raised whether or not public officials offic-ials should remain immune from the fluctuations of prices or whether wheth-er they should be called upon to share the fortunes or misfortunes of those who pay the tax burden. The publication contends that if this obviously unfair situation continues con-tinues it will lead to the complete confiscation of property. Commendation is given to the school superintendents and school boards throughout the state in their recognition of the present financial distress and lowering the tax burdens almost invariably thru-out thru-out the state, as a result of the co-operative action between the organized or-ganized laxpaying groups and the the state.
