Show Three Musketeers Have Been Suddenly Divided The three musketeers of southern California are now two. Frank Chance has passed on and of the colorful triumvirate Jim Jeffries and Barney Oldfield remain. Each a champion in a different line of sport, Oldfield, Jeffries and Chance became close friends years ago and as they grew older their friendship grew deeper. One was the most famous of all racing rac-ing drivers. One is considered by some the greatest of all ring champions. cham-pions. One developed into a manager who has few peers through the long stretches of major league competition. Different in temperament, there was still something about each man that attracted the other. Seeing the three together used to " remind us of the lines of a play. One character, speaking speak-ing to another, remarks: "I don't see why you take to that fellow," to which the other replies: "One white man always takes to another." |
