Show Troops Make Brief Stand For Pangalos Athens, Serious fighting, with many casualties, took place in the outskirts" out-skirts" of the city Thursday between regular troops and two Corps of Republican Re-publican "guards supporting General Pangalos, the ousted dictator. These guard corps, which Pangalos had formed to insure his dictatorship, had been ordered disbanded. Colonels Zervas and Dertilis, in command of the corps, refused to obey and withdrew with-drew them, with three armored cars, to the outskirts of the city, at the terminus ter-minus of Kifissia boulevard. The government gov-ernment sent officers to demand their surrender before 11 o'clock in the morning, but the mutineers ignored the ultimatum and advanced along the boulevard, intending to enter and occupy the city. |
