Show 1 ft ypsis At the luter-state 4-H Club Hem , onstration contest conducted in connection con-nection wiili the inter-state National Livestock Show held recently at Portland, the teams of Washington state won first, Oregon second, and Utah third. An average of tho score5 made by the boys and girls' team from each of the following states was taken Washington, Oregon Utah Nevada, and Idaho. The teams were scored on the following points: subject matter' 30 per cent; team work 20 per cent; results 15 per cent; practicability 15 per cent. Washington won SS; Oregon 87 and one half and Utah 87 per cent, me demonstrators were Zella Summers and Verda Obray, of Paradise, and Edward Boyer and Reed Rigstrup of Springville. The trip to the International Show is festeiefl by the State Fair Association Assoc-iation who gives $50.00 to the girls team and a similar amount to the boys team that win first place at pic State Fair contest.. The Montgomery Mont-gomery Ward Company pays the railroad fare and hotel fees for tt.e girls. Various state institutions contribute additional funds for the boys. The club demonstrators are 'housed at the well heated and lighted Livestock Exchange Building on the exhibit grounds in Portland. In addition to the club demonstration demonstra-tion contests, each state is given the privilege of entering one boy and one girl club member in a health contest. Utah may be proud of it's healthy children for Reed lt'gstrup of Spring vi'.le, won first in the boys' contest and Verda Obray of Paradise, won second in the girls contest. Reed was awarded the gold medal given by Mr. O. M. Plunimer, m ir.ager of the .1 nt t i tin tion Show, and a Jan-itzen Jan-itzen bathing suit and Verda received receiv-ed a Janitzen bathing suit. ,' |
