These insects, Which work (ievushi' tion by sucking sap from the roots and leaves, have been known in the Island for some time, but of late they have increased so rapidly that scientists scien-tists have undertaken to find a means of exterminating them. One planter plant-er has established a special breeding place for li.arirs, which feed freely on the froghoppors. Special precautions precau-tions are taken to prevent the destruction de-struction of the reptiles by birds or other creatures that might feed on them.
