Show THREE MORE SOLDIERS HAVE RETURNED HOME Erick Waldemar, son of John Waldemar of this city. returned home last Monday from overseas duty with the U..S. Army, where he saw some of the most severe fighting in the Aargonne Forest in France. He was in the battle for five days. Erick left Mt. Pleasant and entered enter-ed the service on the 27th of April 1918 along with Mervil Zabriakie. who was killed in battle last October. He first went to Camp Lewis where he trained in Company M of the 364th Infantry of the 91st division. Mervil was in Company I) of the same regiment. They left, Camp Lewis together on June 20th and went to Camp Merritt. N. J., from which place they crossed to South Hampton, England and landed there on July 2 0th. They went direct to Le Havre. Franco and trained for about six weeks. Then they were ordered tq the front and put in the reserve. Erick came out of the battle of the Aargonne on Oct. 1st unhurt. He says he saw enough of the terrible carnage. The people of Mt. Pleasant are ver glad to welcome Erick home again. Hyrum Christensen of this city arrived home Monday from' overseas over-seas duty. Mr. Christensen went into service on October 2, 1917 and was numbered with the 7th field Artillery of the 91st division. Ho first went to Camp Lewis where he. remained but eight days and was transferred to Camp Kearney. He trained there until June 27, 1918. when he was sent, to Camp Merrilt. N. J. from which place he set, sail across tile big pond and arrived in France on July 10th. 1918. This division was sent right into action on the Toul sector. They also fought at St. Mehiei. Verdun, and were in the first drive in the Argonne Forest. Hfcrum was kicked by a horse and had to return to one of the hospitals on October 17, 1018, just a short time before tiie Armistice was, signed. He says now that lie is home Mt. Pleasant looks better than ever to him. lie doesn't care to leave her any more. J. F. Larsen returned home Friday Fri-day April 11. just sixteen months exactlv since the day he left, homo, Dec. il, 1917. Mr. Larsen with Leonard J. Reelv enlisted in the Signal Corp of the Aviation Service December 13. 1917, at Salt Lake City and from tnere early ear-ly in January were se.nt to Camp McArthur, at Waco Texas. Faireld was held al the Texas field until April 1918 when lie was transferor! to a large Aviation Mechanics School at. SI. Paul. Minn. From SI. Paul be was sent to Cbannte Field at Hantoul, Illnols late in the fall to attend another school. At Cbanale Field be was promoted to a chauffeur chauf-feur and during the winter was tent with three hundred and fifty men from Rantonil to Southern Field, tit. Americas, Georgia. He received his discharge from that Camp, and i(. is interesting to know, that bis discharge dis-charge was signed by Col. Hickman who one week biter was killed at Americus. when his plane fell ac-cidently. ac-cidently. Upon receiving his discharge March 2R!h Faireld and a fripnd froul California, Cali-fornia, visited many points of interest in-terest in the east, Washinton I). f. New York, Jersey City. Buffalo. N'i.a-fara N'i.a-fara Falls. Chicago, and many othe r larce cities and scenic attractions. He. however, is triad to be ba' U hour' and says the west and the mo'intntns surely look's good to hini. |
