Burton could not hear the approaching ap-proaching train on account of the noise being made by the screening of coal at the bins. At the time of the accident Mr. Burton was helping help-ing George Ryland make mine cars. He was an electrical engineer for the ' Spring Canyon Coal Company. He lived but one hour after being Injured. Both legs, the right arm and collar bone were broken. Hemorrhage Hem-orrhage of the lungs quickly broujht life to an end. Funeral serviceswere held at the ward chapel at' Storrs under the direction of Bishop Bennett and Supt. A. J5.- Gibson of the Spring Canyon Coal Company. The people of Storrs " and Kennelworth showed the deepest affection for Mr. Burton. Miners and nearly the whole community stopped work and gave a helping hand to the family. William Burton was the son of Joseph F. and Nancy Brooks Burton. He was born at Mount Pleasant on March 1, 1878. On October 10, 1906 he married Mtss Bell Allred, daughter of Milford and Elizabeth Allred. Shortly after his marriage he went on a mission to the Southern States where he labored for two years. When he returned home he moved to Clear Creek where he was chosen first counselor in the Bishopric. Bishop-ric. He also served as Justice of the Peace. The past two years he has lived at Storrs, TTtah. .. -Mr. Burton is survived by his wld- ow, who is very ill at this time, and f five children, Virginia age 11 years, i Milford age four years, Mabel age six years, Viola age four years, and V Dorothy, two years of age. His brothers and sisters are: John and .'ames Burton of Kennelworth, Mrs. 'Fred Larsen, and Mrs. Moroni Johan- sen of Mount Pleasant, Mrs. John L . " Christensen of Fairview, Mrs. Steven I , Kimbar of Helper, Utah, and Henry I and Coleman Burton of Mount Pleas- I ant. His parents have resided in I .- "'his city for many years. His father, Joseph F. Burton, I ! walked across the plains when only a small boy with the "111 Fated" Hand Cart Company in 1856. He suffered with the extreme cold in ' 'f Wyoming and at that place' had his feet badly frozen, j The day that William was killed, I Mrs. John Burton rtceivea word that her brother, Corporal Fred Landgren, ; had been killed on November 10th I while fighting in France.
