Show EX-CROWN PRINCE FLEES TOHUNLAND EXILE REPORTED TO HAVE MADE HIS ESCAPE FROM DUTCH PRISON HOME. Believed Possible That Former Emperor's Emper-or's Eldest Son May Be Figuring on Desperate Political Move in Germany. Paris. Frederick William Hohenzol-leru, Hohenzol-leru, the former German crown prince, has escaped from Holland and made his way into Germany. News of the escape of the ex-crown prince caused a' considerable stir in peace conference circles. While it is not felt that he is a figure around which the reactionaries and monarchists monarch-ists would gather enthusiastically, nevertheless, his act is regarded as an event of considerable significance In view ot other German recalcitrancy. Hints have come from Germany within the last few days that the military mili-tary caste there would not be averse to bringing about a military situation within the former empire that would embarrass the allies in putting the peace treaty into effect, and it seems not improbable that the move made by the ex-crown prince is connected with some such plan. The former crown prince made his way into Holland shortly after the signing of the armistice last November, Novem-ber, and was interned there by the Dutch government, taking up his residence resi-dence on the island of Wieringen, in the Zuyder Zee. Former Emperor William is planning to speedily return to Germany before the entente can demand his surrender from Holland, according to a Stuttgart Stutt-gart dispatch to the Neue Berliner Zeitung. The dispatch states that the Dutch government "thoroughly approves ap-proves of his return, as the former emperor is an unwelcome guest and his presence is increasing the problem prob-lem before that country." |
