Show AMERICAN LEGION TO HOLD BIG CONVENTION AT LOGAN t Logan, August 10. One of thJ biggest and most stupendous street parades ever seen in Logan is going to take place during the Fourth Annual An-nual Convention of the American Legion Le-gion to be held here Sept. 21, 22, 23, according to the decision of the general gen-eral committee at the regular weekly meeting held last night. This parade par-ade will be one hi which the hislorl- j cal periods of American Life will bo -depicted. Various wards and civic bodies and posts of the Legion will be asked to enter floats showing some phase of American History. Cash prizes will be offereu lor the best floats in the parade. In addition to the floats there will be Legiinnaires from all over the state among the marchers. It is expected ex-pected that every post will be represented repre-sented by over half its membership and the posts of Cache County will turn out 100 per cent strong. PosU In the parade will have their colors with them and the department will present a silver band to each post havin; them. This band will be attache'd to the staff of the post standard. The committee of the American Legion Auxiliary will be represented on every convention committee of the Legion as they hold their convention in Logan at the same time as the American Legion. It is the intention of the Auxiliary to entertain the Unit delegates in much the same way that the Legion entertains the post delegates. dele-gates. Mrs. E. S. Budge, president of the local unit will name various committeewomen to work along with j the men. These will include representatives repre-sentatives from the Auxiliary on entertainment, en-tertainment, housing and reception, advertising, finance, and transportation. transporta-tion. Chairman Harold Brangham of the entertainment committee, said that the entertainment features ot the convention were going to be very pretentious affairs. One added attraction at-traction is to be a sham battle representative repre-sentative of real warfare in France. In connection with the sham battle 1 will be a big display of fireworks. This will be staged ou the B. Y. C. I campus if arrangements can be made and the cooperation of the Federal students of the Agricultural College ,will be asked, as those students sta.r- ,'ed a successful battle last Armistice I Day. |
