Commandeering by the government of a fleet of harbor craft sufficient to restore traffic in IS'ew York's strike-bound harbor to normal conditions has been decided by officials offi-cials of the army, navy and United States shipping board, according to apparently authentic reports. If the boats are taken over by government gov-ernment agencies they will be manned by union crews operating under- a basic eight-hour day on the wage scale recently agreed upon with the railroad administration. Officials of the New York Boat Owners' association, whose refusal to grant boat workers' demands after the workers had refused to abide by a national labor board award, precipitated precipi-tated the strike, asserted that the B. MeLain Transportation company already al-ready had been informed by government govern-ment officials that its boats would be commandeered unless they were immediately im-mediately chartered .to the 'government. 'govern-ment. Secretary of the Navy Daniels on Thursday directed Rear Admiral Usher, commandant of the Third naval district, not to allow the use of navy tugs to tow coal barges' for private firms. This was in answer to an appeal by Frank Hedley, general manager man-ager of the Interborough Rapid Transit company that naval tugs be permitted to tow the barges of two private firms engaged in supplying the company with fuel.. NEBRASKA TORNADO KILLS ONE Considerable Property Damage Caused by Twister. Wahoo, Neb. A tornado visited a section of the farming community north of here between the villages of Malmo and Colon, on Friday, causing the known death of one, the probable fatal injury of two others and considerable consid-erable property damage in the limited district through which it swept. The tornado cloud formed a short distance from the village of Malmo and swept in a northeasterly direction toward the village of Colon. The residence res-idence and all the outbuildings on the Dockweiler farm were literally torn to pieces. Mrs. Dockweiler was in the house when the wind struck it and is supposed to have been killed instantly. Her h'suhand, with their baby in his arms, was lifted a considerable distance. dis-tance.
