Having been called there by the serious illness of her brother, Martin Whitbeck who has had pneumonia. Mr. Whitbeck is reported to be improving. He was attending school at the B. Y. U. when stricken. Mrs. Heber Pehrson spent the past week visiting at Salt Lake. Mrs. Elnore Stewart went to Salt Lake City this week to spend the winter with her son, Devirl Stewart, w'uo is managing ed tor of a newspaper news-paper published there. The better education week which was celebrated here last week closed ;. celebration by the sc-honls giving giv-ing a parade with flags and banners I'The junior band furnished trie music. State Supt. Leo J. Muir and Hon. Archie Thurman of Salt Lake City were the speakers at the evening meeting held in the L. D. S. chapel Both gave excellent speeches on better bet-ter schools and education. An original orig-inal song was given by Max Cox and Arthur Day. The junior band played play-ed four selections and the junior high school sang four songs. Everyone who was present enjoyed the toeet-irG toeet-irG The junior high school and the public schools are preparing a pageant pa-geant to be given December 23 in honor of the Pilgrims. The Tercentennial Ter-centennial Celebration. Terry's Concert Band of Fairview will attend the U. E. A. at Salt Lake City and furnish nwisic for them. This band has made a good reputation reputa-tion for themselves, for their deader IProf. Terry and for Fairview. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Anderson of Fairview announce the engagement of their daughter, Buena to P. S. Tillotsen of Ogden. The marriage to take place December 22nd. ' A bundle shower was given at the home of Mrs. Frank Rigby Dec 15 in honor of Miss Beuna Anderson. The shower was given by Mrs. Ora Stewart, Miss Atelia Sanderson, Miss Dorothy Anderson and Mrs. Frank Rigby. A very pleasant evening was I spent in games, music, social chat. iRefreshments were served to fifteen ladies. A number of useful presents were given. Gun Club Orgnizerf at Fairview. On Saturday evening a number of our sport loving but enterprizing citizens met and organized a gun club, with Lawrence Larsen as president, presi-dent, Dr. S,,B. Rigby, vice president; Golden Sanderson, Secretary and treasurer; Loren Hamilton Captain, John Orten, Paul Rosenlund, Raymond Ray-mond Sanderson and Demar Orten, Advisory board. The name of the club is "The Fairview Gun Club." The purpose is to get some fish planted in the. local streams, protect the fish and see that all irrigation streams are screened. To see that all wild game is protected. The members of this club are a very fine i bunch and much good is expected i from the organization. Their im-I im-I mediate work will be killing Jack j rabbits. They expect to have their j first rabbit hunt December 18th. This organization is engaged in a worthy cause and deserve the sup port and encouragement of the community. com-munity. An added feature of their work will be trap shooting. |
