Show 0D(D)DH(Bf One o the moat interesting and unique social events of the season was the Hallowe'en party given Friday evening at the Banquet Hall at the Elite Theatre by Mrs. II. Le-Roy Le-Roy Neilson and Mrs. R. A. Burch. The room was very appropriately decorated In harmony with the occasion. oc-casion. Autumn colors were used In the scenes carried out. Man., interesting games were played by the guests. Burke McArthur received receiv-ed the prize given in the peanut game. He was honored with a tin whistle. There were forty guests who listened intentively to the goast story told by Mrs. James W. Cherry. Following this everyone took a hand In ft lively contest with confette. An excellent five course luncheon was served on the stage of the Elite Theatre to the guests after they had marched through the halls several times with lighted candles. It was a most enjoyable affair and all went home with a cheerful spirit. The Twentieth Century Club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. W. Sorensen. A most interesting inter-esting and instructive program was given. The lesson on Canada was conducted by Mrs. C. L. Stewart. A reading from Evangeline was given by Mrs. H. C. Jacobs, Current Events were given by Mrs. A. C. Wall, Clayton Clay-ton Sorensen sang for the ladies and Miss Winniefred Jensen gave a most interesting illustrated lecture on Ni-agra Ni-agra Falls. Miss Jensen visited this rioted place a few years ago and procured pro-cured some moving picture slides which were exhibited during the lecture. lec-ture. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostess. About thirty of Mrs. Dorathy Swen-Bens Swen-Bens friends and relatives celebrated her eightieth birthday at her home In this city Thursday, Nov. 5, 1914. Instead of the customary birthday cake a large pumpkin holding eighty eandles was used in the centei or the table. An elaborate dinner was served serv-ed and an enjoyable evening was spent by all. Although Mrs. Swensen has reached a good old age she is in excellent ex-cellent health and feels that-she will yet number her birthdays in the nineties. Mrs. E. L. Brandon entertained a number of her friends Saturday evening even-ing at a Hallowe'en party, the rooms were fittingly decorated for the occasion. oc-casion. A sumptuous supper was .served at 7 p. m. Music games and speaking were the evening's entertainments. enter-tainments. J. M. Aldricli received the first prize in the guessing contest con-test and Mrs. O. M. Aldrich received the second prize. A most delightful evening was enjoyed by all present. Mrs. C. W. Sorensen. gave an elaborate five course dinner at her home Sunday evening in honor of Apostle David O. McKay and the new Stake Presidency with their wives and a number of friends. Covers were laid for sixteen. The tables and rooms were beautifully decorated in ferns, autumn leaves and flowers. Mrs. John Fowles gave a bundle Bhower Tuesday evening in honor of Evelyn Madsen, a bride of next week. Many useful presents were given to the guest of honor and a fine supper was served. |
