The Boston Americans won the championship of the baseball universe here Thursday afternoon, when th5y defeated the Brooklyn Nationals, Na-tionals, 4 to 1, in the fifth and final game of the world's series of 1916. Brooklyn won but one game in the series. The attendance for the five games this year amounted to 162,359 and the receipts $385,590.30. Of this sum the players received $162,927.45; each club $92,052.02, and the national Commission Commis-sion $:;S.539.05. The Boston club, as winners, divided $95,750.47, or SV 910.26 for each player. The twenty-three twenty-three Brooklyn players, as the losers, divided $05,1 70.96 into equal shares of $2,834.S2 each. |
