Before or z'.it registering register-ing applicants for homesteads may make a tour of Inspection of the r-s-erva-don and familiarize themselves with the nature of the land open to settlement Registration. Arriving at Spokane. Wenatrhoe. Omak. Republic or Colville. any day from July 5 to 22 Inclusive, you may make application at one of the notary booths which will be established for that purpose, and nowhere else. All necessary blanks. leeal forms and Information In-formation will be furnished by the authorized notary before whom applicant ap-plicant appears. Twenty-five cents will be charged by ihe notary for the taking of each affidavit. affi-davit. No other charge Is made for registering. Any qualified person, In addition to his own application, may make one other application as agent for a former soldier or Eailor (or his widow or minor orphan children), on Colville Indian reservation. How Allotmenta Will Be Made. After applications are filed they wlll be deposited In Bealed cans and beginning at 10 a. m. July 18, In the dty of Spokane, Wash., the cans will be opened and applications Impartially laken, selected Indiscriminately from the whole number of applications presented, pre-sented, a sufficient number being collected col-lected to reasonably cover the amount f land opened to settlement. Tho applications so selected will be numbered num-bered serially in the order in which 'hey are drawn, beginning with number num-ber one, and the numbers thus assigned as-signed shall fix and control tho order 'n which the person's name on application ap-plication may make entry on the land. A list of the successful applicants showing the number assigned to each be published and an individual : . promptly i-.i.ul.-d to the tortu-r.ate tortu-r.ate applicants. r.-i-iniiin at 9 a. m. on September ". Immediately upon receiving notification, successful success-ful applicant should visit the land personally per-sonally If he had not already done so and at time and plhco specified make . .election, within ten days after which he must make a final filing. After selecting the tract ho desires to enter, applicant will be allowed ten days following the date of "V-V". tions within which to complete vMry at the proper land office. During this ten-day period he must file . homestead application at the land 'office, accompanying the same with the usual filing fee and commission commis-sion and In addition paying one-fifth of the appraised value of the tract selected. se-lected. If the lands are In the Spokane Spo-kane (Wash.) land district, entry-must entry-must be made at the Spokane land office; if In the Waterville (Wash.) land restrict, entry must be made at the Watervllle land office. The balance bal-ance of the appraised value of the land may be paid In five annual equal Installments, commencing one year from the date of entry, if three-year proof Is submitted. The unpaid Installments, In-stallments, In case entry Is commuted before the expiration of the three-year period, must all be paid at the time of proof. Applicants making entries on or before November 1. 1916. will be allowed al-lowed until May 1. 1917, within which to establish residence upon the land. After establishing residence upon the land applicants must make it their permanent home and residence until they have commuted (which may be done within 14 months after continuous con-tinuous residence and payment of full value of land plus $1.25 additional per acre) or else the applicant must live on the land and cultivate It continuously continu-ously for three years. After three years' continuous residence and cultivation, cul-tivation, upon filing his final papers, and making his final payment with the usual small land office final filing fee. tho settler gets a clear title to the land from the government. Improvements and Cultivation. Any time within six months from the date of filing the homestead entryman Is required to establish his permanent residence upon tho land that he filed on A habitable house must be constructed con-structed and one-eighth, or 20 acres on a 1 CO-acre entry, must be under cultivation cul-tivation by the second year.
