Last Saturday was cleaning up day it the Park and a number of men xnd boys volunteered their services. L'hey cut down the old trees and jushes, ploughed and scraped and reset the diamond, tore the old ?rand stand down preparatory to jutting up a new one. The city ;ouncil appropriated one hundred ifty dollars towards building a new rand stand and erecting a new fence iround the park. The Young Lades Lad-es did their part by serving lunch to all the workers. On the sixteenth will be Fairview ioosters' Day, when a big celebration celebra-tion will be held at the park, and very body will be expected to turn jut and boost for Fairview. This week the cement walks are leing laid around the new meeting louse, and the finance committee are around soliciting funds to further fur-ther the work. On Friday night a lance will be given for the young i'olks and the young ladies will sell ice cream; on Saturday the Relief society will sell dinner, and in the evening a dance will be given foi narried people, the proceeds will go ;o the new church. Every body is expected to assist the cause by being jresent at these occasions and having hav-ing their purses open when the finance fi-nance committee calls. On Tuesday a number of the re lief society officers and member-, ;ave Mrs. Emily Peterson a surpris in the way of a pound party. They ilso took their baskets filled with jicnic. A short program was carried out and a pleasant afternoon spent, vlrs. Peterson is a widow in pooi nealth. - - Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olson of Salt Lake City have moved to Fairview. 'Ar. Olsen will take S. W. Nielson'f position as clerk in Swen O. Niel-ion's Niel-ion's store. Mr. Swen O. Nielson and familj leave this week for Canada, the land if opportunity. He goes well equip-d equip-d for farming, taking with him twe large teams and plenty of farm nachinery. Mrs Chas. Peacock entertained -.he Ladies Literary Club nd a few friends at a Kensington, Wednesda in honor of her sister, Mrs. Leo Pea-:ock.. Pea-:ock.. The rooms were decorated vith spring flowers. A pleasant lfternoon was spent and a- dainty luncheon served. |
