Show Royal Gwent W elsh Singers J, .I... I MIUH1II...I.I. ... I I . ! I Reports from other cities as to the rtoyal Gwent. Welsh Singers, ihr mMe chorus which comes to t.h" Flite Theatre nevt Thursday eveninr February 25. wi'hout exception speak in terms of h'hert praise of the organization. or-ganization. They every one confirm the first highly flattering comment' made as to the ability of the chorn" and of the character of the splendid entertainment it gives. One report a fair sample of those received here, is given below. It is from the Anaconda Ana-conda Daily Standard and speaks of a. performance given there last week. The paper mentioned says: "If there's any such musical creation cre-ation as an orchestra of human voices, that is what G. F. Davies directed di-rected at the Margret theatre lasi night under the name of the Rovl Gwent singers. Such choral work has never been heard here before, and the audience hung spellbound on every note. In precision of tempo and rhythm of melody the singing was faultless, and the clear voices blended as one in numbers that ranged rang-ed from ringing volume- that filled the theatre to clear mezzo voce that seemed almost a velvety whisper. The singers were generous in their responses to encores, but only the complete repertoire of the organization organiza-tion could suffice to show its efficiency efficien-cy to utmost satisfaction." In addition to the above the paper 7ives a column of space to a detailed resume of the program, which, it ;ays, was marvelously well given. In Salt. Lake, where the ' -horns is to appear this week, its excellence is guaranteed by Prof. Evan Stephens, of the famous Tabernacle choir, who also speaks highly of it. Apparently the performance in this city next week is attracting a great deal of attention, as inquiries are being received as to the details of the concert, not only from people of this city, but from many from nearby near-by cities whose residents are alive to the musical opportunity before them, and who are planning to be here to take advantage of it. Indications In-dications are that a crowded house will greet the singers when they appear ap-pear here next Thursdav. The fact that the Royal Gwent Singers sang, by royal command, before be-fore the king and queen of England, 'hat they were personal guests of President. Wilson at the White House in Washington, and that they have been repeatedly vouched for by the most eminent musicians of both Europe Eur-ope and America, ought to convince any person of the merit of the attrc-tipn. attrc-tipn. The following notice was sent to the musical director of the chorus by a prominent Idaho Falls musician: "We want to thank you for the work of the Gwent Welsh Singers, Inst, night. Apart from all financial finan-cial consideration, we want to thank you for coming here. We were absolutely ab-solutely delighted with all of it, and we say truthfully that no other concert con-cert organization has ever visited here which has displayed such a general gen-eral high standard of musical excellence. ex-cellence. We were simply delighted, and we do not hesitate to say that every one of the large audience in attendance last night, were equally pleased. This morning we have heard nothing but "Gwent" and "Tf they were here again tonight I would sure go. We crtninlv can recommend the Gwent Welsh Chorus, to anybody and everybody." .pirCT-O |
